In this comparison, the Canon 24-70L II trails the Sigma and Tamron lenses at 24mm and f/16, at least as far as my personal preference is concerned. I like the image better out of the Sigma vs. the EF mkII. My copy of the EF mkII has a magenta shift (as many Canon lenses do) that in this case goes just a bit too far IMO. The Sigma rivals (though is bested by) the RF 24-70/2.8 IMO in terms of sharpness, contrast, color rendition, distortion, and flare resistance.
Lenses with a built-in focus motor can autofocus even if the camera does not have its own focus motor. Has full-time manual focus. Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM. Canon EF 20mm F/2.8 USM. With full-time manual focus, you can move the focus ring whilst it is in AF (autofocus) mode.
The Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens delivers fast and accurate AF, very good image quality and image stabilization in a light, compact and moderately-priced package. This of course sounds great - and truth is, I really like this lens.
However, in late 2012 Canon finally decided that it is time for a successor - the Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 USM IS.
