Related question to thisis it normal for the steering wheel heater to turn off by itself after you turn it on--its driving me crazy? There are times I put the seat and steering wheel heater on when it's above 40 (e.g. freedom panels are off and there is a chill in the air), but the steering wheel heater immediately shuts off regardless of how many times I try.

I first had a heated wheel on a BMW 650i. The button was in that same place for a decade and only moved to the face of the wheel just below the airbag on the latest generation of 3, 5, 7, X models, etc. So I have the exec package and got the port-installed flat bottom "sport" steering wheel.Unlike some other car companies with the steering wheel heater switch located on the dash, I can see that some drivers (myself included) would not preferred a LED light up on the steering wheel and it's constantly moving while we drive, creating distraction.
